Know the facts and location of the beautiful country of South-Asia – Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is a country in South Asia. It is bordered by India on all sides except for a small border with Myanmar to the far south-east, and by the Bay of Bengal to the south. Together with the Indian state of West Bengal, it makes up the ethno-linguistic region of Bengal. The name Bangladesh means “Country of Bengal”.
Bangladesh was a part of India on the British-Indian period. The borders of the region that constitutes present day Bangladesh were established in the 1947 Partition of India when the region became the eastern wing of newly formed Pakistan. The pairing, based on their common religion (Islam), proved geographically awkward since an expanse of foreign Indian territory, 1,600 km (1,000 mi) wide, separated the two wings. Subjected to political and linguistic discrimination as well as economic neglect at the hands of West Pakistan, the Bengalis of East Pakistan declared independence in 1971. After a civil war, with help from India and the USSR, Bangladesh was born.
Bangladesh has great resources for tourists. It has the largest mangrove forest in the world – Sundarbans, which is an UNESCO world heritage site. Also has the longest unbroken sea beach – Cox’s Bazar. It has many beautiful hills at the southern area of Chittagong hill-tracts which is a land of many tribal prople, has forests and water-falls at the north-eastern part of Sylhet division, and has many ancient cities and temples at the northern part dated back to 3rd century B.C. But the most important thing of it is it’s friendly people. This country is still an undiscovered country to the outer world travelers. So the motto of it is “come before tourists have come”.
